Mazda Recalls 65000 Cars. Spiders to Blame!
Spiders can cause recalls in
cars? You're kidding right! Well actually we’re not. Mazda, the Japanese
automaker has had to recall over 50,000 Mazda6 cars from it's 2009-2010 model
years in the US. In Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico, it has had to recall over
15,000 cars for the same reason.
Why
are spiders a problem? Well
according to the company, their presence could cause a risk of fire. A spider
could weave a web in a vent connected to the fuel tank system, and this could
clog up the tank’s ventilation. The build up of pressure, could cause
a crack, which could eventually cause fuel leakage, and a risk of fire.
Mazda
has said it is not aware of any injuries or fires caused by these creepy crawlies.
The
recall involves vehicles built from April 2008 to February 2010.
If you
have a Mazda6, don’t panic, it’s something that can be taken care
of. You should have received notification about the problem by now. If you haven’t
heard anything, call Mazda yourself on 800 222-5500.
