Auto Repair Warranty. What You Need To Know - Part 1

By AutoCrisis.com ®

An Auto Repair Warranty is a type of promise offered by vehicle repair service providers. It’s meant to protect you, the car owner, against paying them to fix a covered problem(s) that you previously brought your vehicle in for, at their location.

Auto Repair Warranty usually contain a phrase like “…warrants that the performed repairs will be free from defects in material or workmanship for either 12 months or 12000 miles, whichever comes first, or…”. It normally covers mechanical and electrical work performed on cars or trucks.

Since you’ll actually ‘pay’ for this warranty, either by way of high service charges or otherwise, it is to your advantage to ask questions when one is being offered to you. A few of the warranty questions are:

- How long is the auto repair warranty good for?
- Who / what is covered?
- Is the warranty transferable?
- Can I use this warranty at any other repair facility?
- Does it cover the total cost of the original repair work?
- Does the warranty exclude commercial vehicles (in case, yours is one)
