Want to Drive Safely? Here's How To Avoid Danger on the Road

By AutoCrisis.com®

When you buy a car or truck, one of the major concerns you will have is how to be safe on the road when driving. It's a fact that driving is a leading cause of death on the road. Improving your driving habits can help save your life even when a collision occurs.

According to NHTSA (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration) projections released Oct. 9, entitled "NHTSA Announces Record Low Traffic Fatalities to Start 2009", Traffic Deaths on U.S. roads reached a record low in the first half of 2009.

NHTSA Estimates show that 16,626 people died in traffic crashes between January and June 2009, a 7 percent decline from 17,871 for the same period last year. Projected figures for the period also show a record low fatality rate of 1.15 deaths per 100 million vehicle miles traveled, down from 1.23 deaths during the same period in 2008.

Although, all serious accidents may not result in death, people can sustain catastrophic injuries such as brain injury, loss of limbs, and even paralysis.

Some of the factors that usually cause auto accidents and collisions include driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, not wearing seat belts, and driving for long periods of time without resting.

      Quick Tips on Safe Driving:

  • Always wear a seat belt when driving
  • Don't drink and drive
  • Take rests between a long drive
  • Don't use drugs while driving
  • Avoid driving when it's very late at night, if you can
  • Most importantly, avoid talking / texting on your cell phone while driving!

Don't be a high risk driver. Drive Safely!
