Do I need Collision Coverage in my Auto Insurance Policy?

By AutoCrisis.com

You may need auto insurance coverage when you buy a car or pickup truck. Most states require that you purchase a minimum amount of auto insurance coverage. But if you're interested in protecting yourself from a lawsuit or from hefty repair bills, then it makes sense to buy more than what's required.

Collision Coverage

If you hit another car or an object, collision coverage will provide physical damage protection to your vehicle. You may optionally buy collision coverage with deductibles.

"Deductible" is the the amount you will pay out of pocket to get your vehicle fixed when collision occurs.  Remember that  if your auto insurance policy has a high deductible, you will pay less for collision coverage; however, it will cost you a lot more out of pocket if your car or pickup truck should end up in an accident. The reverse is the case if you have carry a low deductible on your auto insurance policy. Also, collision coverage is the most expensive part of an auto insurance policy.
