Auto Insurance Medical and 'Bodily Injury Liability' Coverages Explained

By AutoCrisis.com®

When you buy a car or truck, Medical and 'Bodily Injury Liability' coverages need to be considered for inclusion in your auto insurance policy.

Bodily Injury Liability coverage

While driving your car or someone else's car (with owner's permission), if you injure someone, the policy will pay them up to the maximum amount of your coverage ('limits') for their medical expenses and any loss of wages. Because of the financial consequences of serious auto accidents, you may want to review your policy with your Insurance Agent, to see if you have adequate coverage.

For instance, your auto insurance policy may contain something like "Bodily Injury Liability:

$100,000 per person and $250,000 per accident." It means that your car insurance provider will pay up to $100,000 per person and $250,000 per accident, for bodily injury protection.

.

Medical Payments coverage

Medical payments coverage of your auto insurance policy covers you if you are involved in an accident where you or a passenger(s) is injured. Your insurance provider will pay up to the amount of medical payments purchased for each of you.

As always, AutoCrisis.com suggests that you check with your Insurance Agent or provider first before you make a purchase decision, as to the amount, type, and level of auto insurance coverage you will need.
