When you buy a car or truck in Indiana, get a completed certificate of title as
the evidence of vehicle ownership. It doesn't matter if you buy a car or truck in
Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, South Bend or Gary, all motor vehicles,
trailers, mobile homes and recreational vehicles to be operated in Indiana,
must be titled.
If you have recently purchased a vehicle with an Indiana title, or received a
vehicle with an Indiana title as a gift, you must have a title in your own name for
the vehicle within 31 days. This also applies to car purchases in Hammond,
Bloomington, Muncie, Anderson, and the remaining counties in Indiana.
