How to buy cars & trucks in Washington, with free used car bill of sale form for Motor Vehicles and Automobiles

 

If you buy used cars or trucks in Washington State from a private party, or receive a vehicle as a gift, you're responsible for transferring ownership of the vehicle into your name within 15 days. A Car Bill of Sale can be used to do at your Department of Motor Licensing.

When you buy a car, truck, van, motorcycle, or other vehicle from a private party, get all the documents required to transfer the title into your name. These documents may include:

 

Vehicle Certificate of Ownership (Title) — The seller of the vehicle must release ownership by signing in the appropriate place on the title. Everyone listed on the title must sign it.

Affidavit of Loss/Release of Interest — If the vehicle title is lost, the seller must complete an Affidavit of Loss/Release of Interest , and sign it in the presence of a notary public, county auditor, or licensing agent. Everyone listed on the vehicle record must sign it too.




Bill of sale — You and the seller of the car, truck,van, SUV, or Crossover must provide information about the sale on a Vehicle/Vessel Bill of Sale. This information must include the sale price, used to calculate the use tax that you must pay.     More…
